Getting to Know Your 2004 Grand Prix Head-Up Display (HUD) Center Console Controls Intensity When the circle in the outer ring is at the upper arrow, the HUD will be turned off. Rotate the ring to the right to turn the HUD on and increase the intensity of the display to full brightness. The HUD system will automatically brighten or dim as the ambient light increases or decreases. Position Press the UP/DOWN switches to move the display within a limited range to the desired viewing position. Formats Press the center “page” button to cycle through the three available HUD formats. Note: Certain HUD information that is always active will shrink or move when other information is activated. This information may also include an ISO symbol (registered with the International Organization for Standardization) representing the active function or feature. Format One Format One will display the following information for the approximate time indicated. 1. Vehicle speed – always. 2. High beam indicator – when active. 3. Turn signals – when active. 4. Automatic Dimming Feature Compass Calibration Press and hold the COMP button down for six seconds to activate the compass calibration mode. If your vehicle has the optional mirror with the compass, temperature display and OnStar system, press the on/off button for nine seconds. CAL will be displayed in the compass/temperature window on the mirror. The automatic dimming feature is turned on or off by briefly pressing the COMP button located on the bottom of the mirror face. A light on the mirror will be lit when the feature is turned on. It will go out when the feature is turned off. Temperature Display The TEMP button located on the bottom of the mirror face changes the temperature display. You can select _F, _C, or turn the display off. Compass Operation Press the COMP button once briefly to turn the compass on or off. When on, the display will show
Multifunction Alarm Locks and Lighting Choices Your vehicle’s locks and lighting systems can be programmed with several different features. The features you can program depend on the options that came with your vehicle. The following chart shows the features that can be programmed. To determine which features your vehicle is equipped with, follow the steps listed for entering the programming mode. Entering Programming Mode To program features, your vehicle must be in this programming mode. Follow these steps: 1. Turn the ignition key to LOCK or OFF. 2. Remove the MALL PGM fuse from the instrument panel fuse block. See “Fuses and Circuit Breakers” in the Index. 3. Turn the ignition key to ACCESSORY. 4. Count the number of chimes you hear. You will hear up to four chimes, depending on vehicle content. See “Multifunction Alarm
